In March 2023 a friend and I completed the Nar Phu trek in Nepal. This 12 day trek branches off the Annapurna Circuit Trail at Koto and loops through the remote villages of Nar and Phu, before crossing the Kang La pass (5,300m) and descending to Ngawal, where it rejoins the Annapurna Circuit. This trail has only been open to trekkers since 2002 and little has changed in the remote villages of Nar and Phu in the past couple of centuries. It can be combined with the Annapurna Circuit as well, but this would be a longer trek and another high pass crossing (Throng La) . For the 6 days that we were on the Nar Phu trail there were only 3 other trekkers and associated guides.
I have published a book on our trek. See the link https://au.blurb.com/b/11556407-nar-phu-nepal

The village of Nar was deserted when we were there. Villagers move to a lower altitude in the winter and don't return until spring. We stayed in Nar the night before we crossed the Kang La, a pass at 5,300 metres. From Nar we crossed the pass and descended to Ngawal, a very long 12 hour day!
Darrell, Babu and myself on Kang La. From Kang La we descended to Ngawal and back onto the Annapurna Circuit.
